Mark B. Ferris RLA

Mark B. Ferris is a skilled land development consultant with over 40 years of experience as a landscape architect, planner and land development consultant. During his career, he has designed, entitled and managed the development of hundreds of residential, commercial / retail / mixed-use / office and industrial development projects throughout the U.S and abroad.

Residential / Mixed-Use Development
As vice president of development for a large real estate investment company, Mark conducted numerous project due diligence and feasibility studies to determine development potential, project opportunities and identify risk factors that affected the success of each project. He was responsible for site selection, programming, estimating, planning, design and entitlements for the firm’s investment projects.
Mark is especially adept at preparing design alternatives, managing design teams and navigating through complex land use regulations working with both public agencies and neighborhood groups to gain consensus and successfully meet development objectives. Mark has managed the planning, design and entitlement of large single and multi-family mixed-use developments in Texas, Florida and in the Coachella and Imperial Valleys of California in addition to a 1500-acre mixed-use development in Moses Lake, Washington. Additionally, he has been involved as a planner and project manager for noteworthy residential mixed-use developments in the Portland area including Fairview Village in Fairview, OR and Orenco Station in Hillsboro. He has personally planned and managed the development of over 150 residential subdivisions and planned developments.
Commercial / Office, Retail & Industrial Development
Mark’s entire career has centered around the planning, design and entitlement of a variety of commercial / office, retail, and industrial projects throughout the country. His design background is especially valuable in quickly determining site suitability, development density and FAR’s, preparing creative development alternatives to determine highest and best use, ascertaining code compliance issues and the preparation of development pro-forma to ensure cost-effective and financially successful projects. Project examples include planning for the Evergreen Air and Space Museum in McMinnville, OR, Lincoln Center in San Antonio, Texas, Huntington Office Park in Dade County, Florida and the Airport Park of Commerce in Asheville, North Carolina.
As a planner and landscape architect, Mark’s creative approach provides a unique perspective and enables clients to position their properties to maximize both value and marketability. He has prepared master plans for residential and mixed-use developments ranging in size from 40 to 3,600 acres and has personally worked with Merv Griffin on the master plan for Paradise Island in the Bahamas and Jack Nicklaus / Sierra Development Group on two large residential golf course communities in Florida. Locally, Mark completed the master plan for the George Fox University Athletic Facility in Newberg, OR, and the Coleman Farm Land-Use Master Plan (Evergreen Aviation Holdings) in McMinnville, OR.
